May 13th, Thursday 2-3 p.m..I will be giving a talk and reading at a literature class at Montgomery College, the Rockville campus, just outside of Washington D.C. on "Poetry and Policy: American Poetry of Political Thought." The talk and reading will include poetry from Ezra Pound, Robert Bly, the contemporary poet Antler, and my own. Contact Prof. Jeff Miller if you wish to attend, at singingTM [at] comcast.net. Past Events

 

Feb. 25th, Thursday at 7 p.m..Come here me share a few poems at the "Town and Gown" reading alongside Towson University's Clarinda Harris, Loyola University's Ned Balbo, Jane Satterfield, Baltimore's Reginald "Magic City" Harris, and others at the Charles Village Barnes and Nobles in Baltimore (3330 St. Paul Street / 410-662-5850). This reading will feature short snippets from a great selection of Baltimore area poets.

 

Feb. 20th, Saturday 4 p.m. to 6 p.m..I will be reading a few poems from my second book, QUESTIONS OF FIRE (Plain View Press). alongside contributors to the Baltimore Review to celebrate the review's Winter / Spring 2010 issue. Come hear poets and prose writers, and meet some of the editors. I review for the journal regularly, and its a cool bunch. The event with refreshmens provided is at the Towson Art Collective, 406 York Road, Lower Level, Towson, MD 21204.

 

Nov. 20th, Saturday 8 p.m. to 10 p.m..I will be reading from my second book, QUESTIONS OF FIRE (Plain View Press). at the Hamilton Arts Collective. This great reading also features Baltimore's one an only Clarinda Harris, who will read from her female-centric growing batch of sonnets. Questions of Fire is a poet's response to the complex 21st century environment, from work to home to war, in an age dawning with violence. The Hamilton Arts Collective is a great gallery setting for a reading, hosted by Poetry in Baltimore's Julie Fisher, with an open-mike, at Hamilton Arts Collective: 5440 Harford Road in Baltimore, Maryland. The entrance on Hamilton Avenue.

 

Oct. 3rd., Saturday 7 p.m. to 9 p.m..I will be reading from my second book, QUESTIONS OF FIRE (Plain View Press). at the Baltimore Ethical Society, followed by an open mike. Questions of Fire, a new book, is a poet's response to the complex 21st century environment, from work to home to war, in an age dawning with violence. The Baltimore Ethical Society is located in downtown Baltimore at 306 West Franklin Street, Suite 102; ph # (410) 581-2322.

 

Sept. 26th, Saturday 1 p.m. to 2.00 p.m..Poems Against War, the journal . is hosting a panel discussion and reading on the topic of POETRY OF VISION at the Baltimore Book Festival. I am hosting and we will be at the Creative Cafe stage, starting a 2 p.m., discussing and examining the concept of poetry of vision with UMBC Professor and poet Piotr Gwiazda, experimental poet Robin Gunkel, and Coppin State Prof. and Baltimore Review contributing editor Kathleen Hellen. At 2:30 p.m. to 3 p.m., we will have a reading with all three panelists, myself the host, and some special guests!

 

Sept. 25th, Friday 7 p.m. to 7.30 p.m..I am excited to announce I will be debuting my second book, QUESTIONS OF FIRE (Plain View Press). at the Baltimore Book Festival at the Creative Cafe stage--a nice fall Friday evening at 7 p.m. Come, chill, listen. Questions of Fire, the book, is a poet's response to the complex 21st century environment, from work to home to war, in an age dawning with violence. This book offers discoveries won through experience, and illuminating observations of contemporary life.

 

Aug. 9, Sunday 4 to 6 p.m..I will be reading with poets Kathleen Hellen, Miriam Botwinik, revoluntary Ron Williams, Poetry in Baltimore's Julie Fisher, and singer Suzette Jones as part of the Gimmie Shelter Community Harvest Reading Series. We will be raising money and food for the Suzanna Wesley House & Sarah's Hope--two Baltmore homeless shelters. Please feel free to bring fresh fruits and vegetables or a $5 donation. Minas Gallery is hosting.

 

April 23, Thursday, 7:30 - 10 p.m..I will read four poems from "Season of Flowers and Dust" and four new poems alongside Towson University Professor Clarinda Harris, witty fiction-writer Charles Rammelkamp, and experimental poet Magus Magnus to celebrate the first issue of the new literary journal, Viviparous Blenny. We all appear in their first issue. This free event will be hosted by Furniture Press editor Christophe Casamassima at the French Press Cafe in Towson, Maryland. The address is 27 E. Chesapeake Ave. Towson, MD. Viviparous Blenny and Furniture Press will be hosting four Thursday night readings in Towson in April 2009, called "the Cruellest Month Reading Series," featuring talented regional voices. April 18, Saturday, 10.am. - 4 p.m..Come to the CityLit festival, where I will be tabling as editor of "Poems Against War: A Journal" along with forty other Baltimore-regional literary journals, writers, editors, and publishers. At this 4th annual wonderful event, you also can catch nationally-known poet Mark Doty at 1:30 p.m., Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Junot Díaz at 3:00 p.m.,and much more at simultaneous readings in three different rooms. The event is held at the Enoch Free Pratt Library, 400 Cathedral Street, in downtown Baltimore. From 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., I and other literary journal editors and writers will be reading excerpts in the main lobby from 1:30-3:00 p.m. as part of the “Poets by Place" forum, hosted by Reginald Harris. Feb, 20, Friday, 8-10 p.m..I will be reading with socially-minded poets Marcus Colasurdo, Alan Barysh, Auset, Jasaga, and Mary C. Reily at the Read Street Bookstore in Baltimore, Maryland. The reading will benefit Hearts Place Shelter in Baltimore, and it is part of an ongoing Community Harvest collaborative reading series. All poems tend to lighten the spirits, raise consciousness, and sometimes both. The event is at a small bookstore / coffeeshop, located at 229 W. Read Street, near Penn Station.

 

Feb 15, Sunday, 7-11 p.m..I am reading three poems at The Metro Gallery in Baltimore in a round-robin of ten stylish poets as part of "Spread the Love, Share the Warmth," a Valentine's Day benefit for Heart's Place Shelter. The donation request for this 20-bed shelter is $10. Featured poets include Marianne Amoss, Joe Crespo, Katie Feild, Robin Gunkel, Cheryl Janowsky, and more; with rock-and-roll by Noble Lake, Mr. Moccasin,and Katie Feild. Jan 24, Saturday, 2-5 p.m..I will be hosting a panel discussion, reading and open-mike poetry at the Living Labyrinth for Peace exhibit at the Sub-Basement Studios in downtown Baltimore. This very spacious exhibit features a sizable labyrinth lit by neon glow sticks to walk through, and the reading will be co-hosted by Living Labyrinth Artist SANDRA WASKO-FLOOD. Poems Against War associate editor Brian E. Langston also will read. The exhibit and studios can be found in a dicey, but safe part of town at 118 N. Howard St. in Baltimore, and their Web site at www.sbastudios.com.

Dec. 19, Friday, 8 - 10 p.m..Stylish formalist poet Patric Pepper (author of Temporary Apprehensions and from Washington D.C.) and Cave Canem poet Reginald Harris (author of 10 Tongues) are reading for the journal POEMS AGAINST WAR, along with journal editor Gregg Mosson. The reading is at the Hamilton Arts Collective in Baltimore, Maryland, and both poets are featured in the 7th issue, "Poems Against War: Ars Poetica" and are quite good. A $5 donation is requested; an open mike and surprise raffle are included. The Hamilton Arts Collective is at 5440 Harford Road, Baltimore. Dec. 13, Saturday, 5 - 7 p.m..This event features poetry and music from Dan Jenkins, a local philosophy professor, Urbanite Editor Marianne Amoss, new work from myself, and the songs of Gene Belliveau. Nov. 18, Tuesday, 3:30 p.m..  Reading from the book Season of Flowers and Dust and literary journal "Poems Against War" on Nov. 18 at 3:30 p.m. in the Towson Room of the Cook Library at Towson University.   I am reading along with fiction writer Elise Levine as part of the Townson University English Department Reading Series, and have heard Levine's fiction is very good. Nov. 1, Saturday, 7 - 9 p.m..  Reading from the book Season of Flowers and Dust at the Baltimore Ethical Society coffeehouse.  The Baltimore Ethical Society is located at the Old Marble Bar in downtown Baltimore at 306 West Franklin Street, Suite 102. They can be found online at www.baltimoreethicalsociety.org. $4 donation. Coffee and sweets will be served. An open mike follows.

 

Oct. 17, Friday, 7:30 - 9:30 p.m..  This benefit reading will raise money to buy fresh produce for the Hearts Place Shelter in Baltimore, Maryland, and a $5 donation is suggested. The poets include Alan Barysh, Gregg Mosson, Ron Williams, blue-folk singer Jasaga, and Suzanne X. It will be held at Minas Gallery in Baltimore.

 

Sept 28, Sunday, 2 - 3 p.m. Reading & Panel Discussion.  Poems Against War: A Journal of Poetry & Action will debut its seventh volume with an 1/2 hour panel discussion followed by a poetry reading. The Baltimore Book Festival event at the Creativity Cafe tent opens with a panel discussion called: "Art & Politics: A Marriage of Heaven and Hell?" The panel will explore relationships between art and politics with Baltimore Review editor Susan Muddhi-Darraj, and poets Marcus Colasurdo and Reginald Harris. A reading follows from 2:30-3:00 p.m. with Brian E. Langston, Reginald Harris, Alan Barysh, Marcus Colasurdo, and myself, Gregg Mosson. The journal's Web site is www.poemsagainstwar.com.

 

Sept 27, Saturday, 1 - 2 p.m. Reading.  I will read poetry from my new book at the Baltimore Book Festival in the Creative Cafe tent, with three other cool cats. Reading with me are Chicago's Gregg Shapiro, author of "Prevention," Djelloul Marbrook – winner of the 2007 Wick Award for "Far From Algiers," and writer and publisher Le Hinton of Iris G. Press. This reading is part of a showcase called The Literary Diversity of Men.

 

July 26, Saturday, 5 - 7 p.m..  Reading at the Minas Gallery in Baltimore, Maryland with Gimmie Shelter Productions to kick off the Community Harvest fundraiser, a series of readings to raise funds to purchase locally grown fruits and vegetables for use at The Mount Street Homeless Shelter in Baltimore. Music and poetry featuring the lyrical stylings of Gregg Mosson, the visions of Marcus Colasurdo, the folk-blues of Jasaga, the Baltimore wit and bombast of Alan Barysh, and the nature poetry of Suzanne X. Admission is $5 donation, and an open-mike follows. Minas Gallery is at 815 W. 36th Street, on "The Avenue."

 

June 22, Sunday, 2 - 4 p.m.  Reading with the Little Patuxent Review to debut their "Childhood" issue at the Bethesda Writer's Center.  The Bethesda Writer's Center can be found online at www.writer.org, and they are a great resource for regional writers.

 

June 21, Saturday, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.  Reading with the Little Patuxent Review at the Columbia Festival of the Arts to debut their "Childhood" issue. Lucille Clifton is the featured reader. The journal is online at www.littlepatuxentreview.org.

 

Feb. 23, Saturday, 2 p.m.  Reading to benefit African drought relief with Water for the Wells poets Marcus Colasurdo, Alan Barysh, musician and poet Jasaga, and others.  Clayton’s Fine Books in Baltimore, Md., at 317 N. Charles Street.

 

Feb. 17, Sunday, 4 p.m.  Minas Gallery in Baltimore, Md.  Debut and reading from the book Season of Flowers and Dust.  Minas is located at 316 36th Street, on “The Avenue.”
